PGW recognized the need for multi-client aeromagnetic and radiometric surveys in Northern Chile to supplement existing and available data in the region. Magnetic and radiometric data have proven to be an effective tool to delineate intrusives, structures, alteration and host lithologies related to the porphyry emplacement. A new High-resolution aeromagnetic survey is now proposed to complete the Salvador– Escondida – Peñon Region Trend. The original survey area has been modified in order to better cover the Paleocene belt. The survey area represents an extension to the South of the Escondida Block and will be integrated with available Non-exclusive data sets provided by the sponsors of this project.

Over this important gold-copper district, PGW is managing the acquisition of high-resolution aeromagnetic and radiometric data by collaborating with survey contractors. PGW is processing, compiling and interpreting the data.

Integrated Interpretation

PGW has compiled the new data with the historical SERNAGEOMIN surveys. An integrated interpretation of the compiled dataset incorporates mapped geology, Landsat TM and known mineral deposits in order to provide structure definition, classification of magnetic and radiometric responses, and prioritised porphyry targets and environments.
